Some very sage advice was left by Jess on my last post. In response to my funky mood and ho-hum feelings about this blog, she reminded me that this blog is for ME, not anyone else. I shouldn't feel the pressure to post ... something I've kind of forgotten lately.
I know I'm not posting anything earth-shattering here, but I feel like I should continue to update if I want this network to still be here when I need it most: when my mojo returns and I finally embark on real training for Grandma's Marathon in June.
I guess what I need to remember is none of this will happen unless it's right for me. If I vanish for a few days or weeks, I know you all will still be out there hitting the pavement - and blogging about it - ready to give me advice when I need it!
I did make some progress yesterday - I found out the rec center by my house is only open Mon. - Thurs. (weekends are reserved for kid activities. No grown-ups allowed, I guess). It doesn't open until 7 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. So ... I guess I have a decision to make. Can I trust myself to go to the gym after work four consecutive days during the week (so I'd have to get there by at least 7:30) and commit myself to one outside run, during daylight, on the weekends? Or do I pay for a gym membership at a facility located no where near my house?
Speaking of locations, there is a new gym opening somewhat close to my house. It's an LA Fitness. Has anyone had any experience with these? Love or hate them? I am a former Bally's member and I pretty much hated them - I'm not a fan of the big gym, macho-man scene. But it is nice to have a wide variety of classes and a sweet pool. Anyway, any advice on LA Fitness would be appreciated!
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path, and leave a trail.

Yes, it is all about you, and you have plenty of time to take it slow and develop a good habit :-)
LA Fitness huh...glad to hear things are moving in. Lifetime needs competition to drive prices down!
and yes, the blog is for you. I haven't been good about writing in mine consistently either. Write when you feel you need/want to.
LA Fitness is all over down here -- I am not a member but a friend is and she loves it. They are very nice, depending on the one you get, but they can be pretty swanked out!
Glad the reminder was helpful!
