Yeah, I'm here

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. More aptly, it's been a while since I've posted anything of interest. I know I started this blog purely for fitness reasons, but I haven't been able to find it in me to focus on the fitness part of things for quite some time. Bless you if you've kept reading this boring drool.

I won't sit here and make excuses, except to say this week has been from hell. My usually calm fall work schedule exploded in my face this week and I'm absolutely exhausted. All I wanted to do after work last night was plop on the couch and sleep forever. But, dear runners, I fought the urge! I did the unthinkable, these days ... I RAN!

You see, our puppy got spayed yesterday so she was in the hospital overnight (I can't pick her up until after noon today and I'm dying to see her!) Last night, I realized the absence of her in the house also meant I had quite a bit of free time where her play/eat/walk time usually exists. So, I fought the urge to sleep, tied up my running shoes (which are almost 2 months old and still spankin' white) and went out for a quick 2 miles.

I'll tell the truth: it was 2 miles of pain. But I'm not focusing on that. Every time that little voice entered my head, saying, "This hurts so bad. Why did you ever stop running? Why are you even trying to get back on track?" I fought back, reminding myself that I'm not focusing on the past. I'm starting over, hoping my past experience will give me the drive I need to stick with it this time around.

So, here's the plan:
Tonight: 40 minutes of cross (walk, abs, push-ups, weights)
Saturday: 2 miles easy pace
Sunday: 40 minutes of cross
Monday: 2 miles - intervals
Tuesday: 40 minutes of cross
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 2 miles easy pace
Friday: 40 minutes cross
Saturday: 2 miles - intervals
Sunday: 40 minutes cross
Monday: 2.5 miles easy pace

Not that exciting, but I'm re-building ... it's about quality, not quantity. Something I'm going to have to fight hard to help myself remember.

Sounds like a good plan!
