Ahhhhhh

Friday night was fabulous - I was able to fit in a much-needed 5 miles. It was sunny yet cool, the flowers were blooming, neighbors were mowing their yards, and the run was easy breezy: it was the most perfect run I've had in a long time. It was as if the running gods knew how badly I needed to get outside, so they held off on the rain and let me get through this run shin-pain-free.

I celebrated an unexpected day off work Saturday by waking up early to meet my BF in Two Harbors for a wedding (he drove up for the rehearsal Friday afternoon, which provided me with a perfectly relaxing night alone with Grey's Anatomy and trashy magazines after I finished the 5 miles).

If you haven't been to the North Shore of Lake Superior before, I cannot suggest it strongly enough for a vacation destination. Every time I go up there, I leave with an urge to buy loads of lottery tickets for the unlikely chance that we would win and could then afford to buy a permanent home up there. The winds off the lake are a little chilly this time of year, but the scenery is so well worth it. Plus, I got a lot of hiking in, which - holy crap - counts for way more than a 5-mile run in my book.

Although I came back as tired as I was at the end of the week, all in all, I feel refreshed and recovered from the weekend. It's a good thing -- this week has a lot of hours in store (again) and it will be a while before I get anymore days off.

You know what's terrible? I lived in MN for 8 years and never went to the north shore (went to Duluth many times, but never up north of there).

But, I've lived in FL for 3 years and still haven't made it to the Keys either. Soon, I'll be going soon.
