News!

Okay ... juuuust a little stressed out this week with everything going on. Needless to say, the running has been sporadic, at best. I have been getting exercise, though. First, by chopping up and hauling the many, many branches and tree limbs down after Friday's storm. Here's a sampling of what our backyard looked like:

And I'm also getting exercise because of this:

It's Maizy, our new puppy! She's a 4.5 month old cairn terrier (think Toto) and, as you can see, she's totally adorable. She looks a little sad in this picture, but in reality she's the happiest dog I've ever met. We just haven't been able to get a good photo yet.

This is what not having power does to people: when we were powerless on Saturday - meaning we didn't have electricity, and we also were powerless against cleaning up the yard because there were power lines wrapped around our downed limbs - we entertained ourselves by looking for puppies. It's something we've been thinking about for a long time, and we finally decided the time was right.

So far, so good. This is a feisty breed, so I'm hoping she eventually grows some legs that can keep up with me on short runs. If nothing else, she'll make sure we get out for good walks every night.

Things are settling down so I'm hoping I have running to report sometime soon. Tonight, perhaps?

Awwww. Cute puppy :-) I hate dogs. Not really. I have four. I hate it when they sleep in the small of my back. I'm a doggie sandwich. Beats the crap out of me why they don't go sandwich Dee Dee...

Yucko -I remember last summer when we had a mini tornado and almost half the trees in our yard fell down. No one could drive anywhere because of downed power lines and no electricity for 4 days in 100 degree heat. I hope you were able to get everything cleaned up!

And your puppy is ADORABLE!! She's about the same age as our new puppy Tinker (she's also small, a maltese) and the biggest ball of energy you could imagine!

P.S. And the answer to your question: blue pixy sticks are simply the best tasting! :)

Having lived through hurricanes, I feel your pain with the no power and downed trees. Very cute puppy!

Ah, cute puppy...I hadn't realized about some of the branches till I ended up on a run around a local running/biking/nature area, flooded and branches down (maybe I should run there again tonight and take some pictures)...
