When in Doubt: Retail Therapy

I'm searching for anything to keep me in the running mood these days, which is why I have come to the conclusion that it's time to buy some new kicks. Really, I need a new pair - my old ones are showing the telltale 'cracking' signs along the soles, and it's been about 9 months since I bought them.

Shopping is my solution to a lot of things in life. I know I'm not alone in this habit; it's just that I don't always have the resources to support my therapy. Well, I have the resources, but I always feel said resources would be better spent on something practical in life - such as a new roof on the house, my trips coming up later this year, my BF's birthday present, etc. etc.

But running shoes aren't like another new pair of cute summer sandals that I must have but don't really need at all. I have accepted that if I'm serious about running, I can't let myself feel guilty about investing in the attire that supports my sport of choice. So, this afternoon, I'm setting out to be completely selfish and invest in some new shoes.

Now the only question is, what to buy? I'm going to have a running assessment done so someone can finally tell me what I really need in a shoe. If all goes as planned, I figure my new, shiny shoes will be so wonderful and appealing that they'll practically lead me out the door by themselves by the end of the night.

New shoes are a necessity, so they don't count the same as other shoes purchases (which are for fun, not necessity).
