Rough Start

Last weekend was fabulously perfect -- sunny, 70-degree weather. Hours spent reading and drinking on the front porch. Effortless running that barely felt like a workout. Then Monday hit. Work went crazy, I found out two very bad pieces of news from two of my friends, and the week spiraled out of control. By Saturday, I had logged almost 80 hours at my desk.

So, after I took the time to finally start this blog and made the commitment to be accountable for the training I promised myself I would do, my first week got off to a rough start. I've actually been pretty good at training this winter, but the point of this blog was to help me kick it up a notch. I've been doing a couple 2-3 mile workouts per week, plus a longer 4-5 mile run on the weekends. I'm ready to stop being safe and start building my miles, and I figured writing about my training would help me keep this commitment. Last week, not so much.

The good news: this week is much better! I'm not working today or Friday, and the rest of the week will be pretty quiet at work as half the building is on vacation. I hope to get in a good week of runs and a good week of regular blogging.
